Environmental groups in Minnesota are praising an EPA review that says the draft environmental impact statement on the Polyment Mining project in the Hoyt Lakes area is "unsatisfactory and inadequate". The EPA Findings back what environmental groups have maintained, that such open pit mining operations create unacceptable risks to water quality. Senator Al Franken tells KDAL that this is all part of the process to creating an environmentally friendly mining operation that will boost employment on the Iron Range.
