Zebra mussels
(St. Paul, MN) -- It is now confirmed that zebra mussels have been found in one of Minnesota's most prized lakes. The D-N-R says a west-metro resident reported her findings of several tiny zebra mussels attached to rocks along the shore of Lake Minnetonka. More testing will be done later this summer. Zebra mussels, in large quantities, can kill fish and impede boating and recreation. They are usually spread by boaters from other bodies of water. Since first discovered in Duluth Harbor 21-years ago, they've spread to 17 inland bodies of water and several rivers in Minnesota.
